![]() Each player starts with 6 Command points (CP), but the inclusion of some models in your army can increase this.Muster ArmiesEach player must now select a Battle-forged army with the following modifications: Books BookĪrks of Omen: Grand Tournament Mission PackĢ. So whether you are just setting off into the world of matched play games, or you are about to participate in the next Grand Tournament event, read on to absorb the full content of this mission pack, and to unlock the countless hours of exciting and close-run gaming it will provide. All missions have been reviewed and a number of rules and primary objectives have been updated to offer an even better gaming experience. This is simply to ensure that the spirit of the rules regarding the so-called rule of three (or rule of two if you are playing an Incursion battle) is not abused due to the exemption of Dedicated Transports, without penalising those players who genuinely wish to field a proper, mechanised army. Such units must now start the battle with models embarked within them, or else they cannot be set up or used in the battle - presumably they have had to return to base in order to pick up their forgotten passengers. We have made a small but important change to Dedicated Transports. This is an additional consideration when selecting your secondary objectives and deciding what forces to bring to battle. While these may be a little harder to accomplish, the reward for doing so is all the more important now that Command points are scarcer than ever before, as they may enable the use of an extra Stratagem at a vital time and swing the battle in your favour. In addition, a handful of secondary objectives can, in the right circumstances, award bonus Command points if additional conditions are met. We have also included secondary objectives for the latest factions, including Leagues of Votann and World Eaters. Secondary objectives have been reviewed, streamlined, refined, and in some cases even replaced, to offer the best matched play gaming experience. These savings mean that players only need to spend their Command points on Stratagems, whether that is on Requisition Stratagems to upgrade their units before the battle, or on other Stratagems used when bullets are flying and blades are poised to strike. We have removed the command costs from all Detachments and made it so that players can place units into Strategic Reserves for free.Players cannot include any other Detachments in their army - their army will therefore consist of one compulsory Arks of Omen Detachment, and possibly one optional Allied Detachment. You can also choose to include a single Allied Detachment, and we have been specific as to which allies can be taken with which factions (and how) to ensure that mortal enemies do not fight on the same side. This is a flexible Detachment that opens up all manner of exciting new ways to add units to your army that might otherwise have been overlooked, such as Lords of War and Fortifications. We have introduced a new Detachment - the Arks of Omen Detachment - that every player must use. The biggest change to this mission pack concerns how players muster their armies.Victory in a Grand Tournament mission is contingent upon clever army selection, wise choices of secondary objectives, expert tactical play and a healthy dose of good luck! If you are a veteran of the Grand Tournament mission pack scene, then you already know all of this and you are doubtless more interested to learn what has changed for this season of competitive Warhammer 40,000 gaming: These provide every player with the chance to fine-tune each mission to their own strategic strengths, and to optimise their ability to score more victory points than their foes. Moreover, within this pack you will find additional rules for picking secondary objectives that your army must pursue. ![]() Each mission - tailored to different battle sizes, from Incursions to Strike Force engagements - is designed to ensure that neither player can claim an advantage at battle’s commencement. It has been created for those Warhammer 40,000 hobbyists who prefer a carefully levelled strategic playing field.
